Lorenzo Fontana is an Italian politician and a member of the Liga Nord (Northern League) party. He was born on March 10, 1980, in Verona, Italy. Fontana began his political career in 1997 when he joined the Liga Nord. He has held various positions in the party, including serving as the Secretary of the Liga Giovani (Young League) in 2002.
In 2004, he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies. He was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2008 and 2013. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the Minister of Family and Disability in the government of Italy.
Fontana is known for his controversial statements, particularly regarding immigration and LGBTQ rights. In 2018, he sparked controversy by saying that he would prefer to see "our children" with measles than with "homosexuality." He later apologized for his comments.
